Want to build custom Genesis themes professionally? Then this is the series for you. You and Tonya will dive deep into the entire process of building a real world, fully-functional, custom Genesis child theme from scratch. You’ll learn deeply about the framework, WordPress, PHP, HTML, CSS, and more as you build this theme.

Prerequisites

You will need to have your local development environment setup and ready to go. If you do not have the following setup, then please refer to the Local Development Series for Mac or Windows. You will need a local web server, editor, Sandbox website, Node.js, npm, Git, and Gulp all installed and configured.

In addition, you’ll need to have a solid fundamental understanding of HTML, CSS, PHP, WordPress, and Genesis. See the Genesis Developer Roadmap to make sure you are ready to do this lab.

I highly advise you to do the following labs/series. The starter theme will be used in this lab as the starting point. You’ll be customizing it and building new features too.
