WordPress Metadata, Metaboxes, and Custom Fields Series

WordPress provides the ability to add extra information for posts, users, and terms. This metadata gives content additional attributes, processing details, and further context. We use metadata for specific filtering, querying, grouping, and processing tasks. We build custom metaboxes and fields (i.e. custom fields) to provide interfaces for authors, editors, and administrators to input, edit, and manage the metadata.
